My fascination with travel undoubtedly began as a child when I would watch my flight attendant mother pack her bags and fly off to far away places. Missing from her suitcase was a camera, and while hearing about her travels was intriguing enough, I knew I would have to see for myself what lay beyond the city walls.
Flash forward to Spring of my sophomore year of college when the stars aligned and I was fortunate enough to study abroad in Seville, Spain. I quickly fell head over heels with that ciudad preciosa and was certain my life of travel was just getting started.
With a love of everything Spanish, I became a Spanish teacher. Equipped with optimal time off and a paycheck in hand, it was time to cash in on my mom’s travel deals, and take my chances on that standby seat.
Living in Columbus Ohio, I hit the
road sky any chance I get. Whether it’s flying across the U.S. or the pond, more often than not, back to Spain, I am always up for the adventure of seeing what’s beyond and meeting some pretty great people along the way.
After 7 years of teaching Spanish, the dream to move to Spain just became more intense, so I secured a leave of absence from my school district for a year and moved to Madrid. This year I’m living la vida madrileña with all of Spain within reach, traveling and teaching English through the Auxiliares de Conversación program.
